Hollywood International Independent Documentary AwardsEllopia Films is an international media company and a non-profit within the United States (Ellopia Educational Media) our chief concerns are the production of documentary films, educational material, and the Ellopia Press Magazine. Athina Krikelis, founder and chief executive, is an Cannes Award winning journalist. Our specialization is portraying the cultural, archeological, and scientific ties between Greece and the Greek-American community as well as Philhellenes abroad.
Our latest documentary project is a series about Mt Olympus in Greece. A large percentage of the world population believes that Mt Olympos is only a “mythic” setting much like Valhalla: the aim of this series is to document Olympos as a “real” mountain to the general public. If the foundation of Western civilization dates to Greece, we want to show how Mount Olympus is the “cornerstone” of that foundation, how its amazing setting inspired Hesiod, Homer and Alexander the Great.
To date, we have concluded two of the twelve documentaries proposed in this series. These films have already won 6 major international awards (see production notes below).
